Proč Tanec a hudba?

Někdy zdánlivě banální spojení mohou být příležitostí k objevení nečekaných souvislostí. Rakouská choreografka Christine Gaigg patří k respektovaným tvůrcům a zároveň pedagogům. Jakýma očima a prostřednictvím jakých médií válku dnes vnímáme my?

Why Dance and Music?

Sometimes seemingly trivial connections can be an opportunity to discover unexpected connections. The Austrian choreographer Christine Gaigg belongs to highly respected creators and teachers. Her current work is again extremely innovative and full of desire to experiment. In the production untitled (look, look, come closer) she focused on the theme of the portrayal of armed conflicts by means of tablets and smartphones. How do we perceive the war at present and through what type of media? Was war ever so unbelievably close to us? The production will surely make an impression, even more so, because of the fact the work of this renowned choreographer has seemingly almost nothing to do with dance. What is the role of music in this extremely fragmented world? You have to see it for yourself!
The production Praeambulum will open the festival in a truly unforgettable way. The artistic director of one of the most renowned Norwegian “companies” Ingun Bjørnsgaard cooperated again with the composer of contemporary music Henrik Hellstenius, and the musical component in their work becomes as equally important to the production as the dance. Choreographer Mia Habib used music in her production MONO in a completely different way. The dancers are dressed in turquoise blue overalls just like the musicians and together they spend time on stage. The music is created live on stage and the participants are – thanks to the costumes – “swimming in the same pool”.
The work of the Dutch company United-C is known to Flora Theatre Festival audiences and they can expect to see quite strong aesthetics and enthralling live images in the performance called Burn. The individual parts of the piece of art support each other, yet often exist independently. The music group has its concert and at the same time initiates the action on stage – it does not only illustrate. The audience is part of the live installation, as they go through a peculiar biotope where everything is possible and everyone can take as much as he or she can “carry”.
The Czech production in this line is represented by the ensemble Kolonie which will show the premiere of their project Godt og ondt, three times actually. Within the Nordspiration project, we have sent this female group for an artistic residency to the northernmost town in the world – Hammerfest, Norway. After they returned back, they continued in Olomouc with the preparation of the production whose initial situation is a “concert” and its main theme is “violence”. We are truly excited to see what will come out of this exciting combination.
So what do you think? There is a good chance that dance and music will after all offer some unexpected connections.
