Piotr Stanek: Emergency Plan (Katarzyna Kania & Dominika Wiak)

Renan Martins de Oliveira: Let Me Die In My Footsteps (ME–SA & BOD.Y)

Česko-slovenskou scénu tentokrát zastupuje performance Let Me Die In My Footsteps, na které se podíleli tanečníci z uskupení ME-SA a B.O.D.Y pod vedením choreografa brazilského původu Renana Martinse de Oliveiry.
Tvorba Piotra Stanka v sobě nese výrazný rys současné polské scény, a sice konceptuální přístup.

Let us show you the best of the contemporary Visegrad scene

The section named “Visegrad Performing Arts” has become a traditional part of the Flora Theatre Festival programme. This time it will focus on the well-marked young artists who have been gradually gaining renown abroad, and represent a very decided art approach which is a result of artistic intransigence and the will to pursue a clear aim.
The most emblematic ensemble of this section is the Hungarian group Hodworks. In recent years, work of the choreographer Adrienn Hód has started to resonate in European dance circles. While watching her work, quite a lot of people are rather shocked and ask the following question about the aim of the production: “Is it a precise reflection of the current social and political reality in Hungary, or rather an abstract dance and the result of artistic joy and freedom?”
The Czechoslovak scene is represented this year by the production Let Me Die In My Footsteps by choreographer Renan Martins de Oliveira with dancers from the groups ME-SA and B.O.D.Y. Similar to Hodworks, the stage is dominated by the pure joy of movement supported by the main theme of the choreography – the necessity to be together. The production can serve as a poetic mirror to the dynamic Hungarian production.
Choreographer Piotr Stanek, just like those mentioned above, is particular about working repeatedly with the same dancers to be able to refine the expression of his own ideas. The production Emergency Plan speaks with a detached view about two superwomen who are striving for complete independence. Piotr Stanek's work carries the pronounced trait of the current Polish scene, and that is the conceptual approach. Nevertheless, it can be revealing for general audience as well.
We have been bringing you the best of the contemporary Visegrad dance for five years now. One of the tasks that we defined in connection with organizing the anniversary edition was to think about what we do and what we can do better. That is also a reason why a conference called Visegrad Dance Platform? is also part of the festival; it will reflect the possibilities of more intense cooperation in the field and the region, as well as show directions of its development.
