Pavel Khek (1978) first studied theatre studies in Olomouc and Prague, but then decided to switch from theory to practice and enrolled in the Drama Directing course at DAMU. His extracurricular projects led to the creation of the civic association Partida in 2006, where he rehearsed Dostoyevsky's The Gentle Creature with Nina Divíšková in the lead role. He has several dozens of award-winning directing credits, for example at the Městské divadlo Zlín, Studio A Rubín, the South Bohemian Theatre, Divadlo na Vinohradech and Moravské divadlo Olomouc. In his productions, he places great emphasis on individual work with the actor and relies on the method of constant rehearsal, working on the principle of trial and error.
Thanks to several years of successful cooperation with the theatre in Mladá Boleslav, he was offered the position of artistic director in 2011. After a few years, however, he longed to return to Prague and in 2016 he accepted the offer of the Prague City Theatres, where he worked as an in-house director for three seasons. He is currently the artistic director of Klicperovo divadlo in Hradec Králové. He teaches at hight schools for actors in Prague and Zlín.

Moravské divadlo Olomouc (MDO) is one of the oldest theatre buildings in the country (opened in 1830). It has three ensembles – opera/operetta, ballet and drama (with Roman Vencl as artistic director since 2016). Jan Fousek, a teacher and former soloist of the National Theatre in Brno, will take over the ballet section from Michal Štípa in the upcoming season. Veronika Loulová, the founder of the opera association RUN OPERUN, was recently appointed artistic director of the opera and operetta, replacing conductor Miloslav Oswald after eleven years in the position.
In 1996, the then director of the MDO, Václav Kožušník, initiated the creation of Divadelní Flora – a project that has evolved from a regional showcase of Moravian multi-ensemble theatres into one of the most prestigious Central European festivals.
