Johana Pocková managed to hold attention and stir interest, which is to be appreciated in such a lyrical form, as well as her stage charisma and movement originality. Madonna with Rust is only about 40 minutes long, but it offers a condensed and concentrated experience that has the potential to transport us somewhere close to our souls for that brief time. And that's no small feat.

The poetics of intuitive lyricism may not be much in vogue in the pragmatic world of contemporary art today, but it is all the more valuable for that. It refers to the happier states of our soul.

Johana Pocková (1992) graduated from the Duncan Centre Dance Conservatory in Prague, completed a six-month internship at the Peridance Capezio Centre in New York and two years at the SEAD (Salzburg Experimental Academy of Dance). As a performer she collaborates with the groups tYhle and Tantehorse. She founded and runs the dance company POCKetART with dancer Sabina Bočková, under which she performs (not only) her choreographies, including Why Not Now?, Na Váhu! and the intergenerational experiment Full Warehouses of Emotions, where her ninety-year-old grandmother performed alongside four professional dancers and an eight-year-old girl.
She also focuses on socio-cultural phenomena, such as media manipulation in The Lion's Den (2019) or the irreversible environmental footprint of humans in Treatment of Remembering (2020). The contribution and creative input was also recognised by the international platform Aerowaves, which included both of the above-mentioned works by POCKetART in its prestigious selection of the TOP20 best European dance works.
The Lion's Den was shortlisted by the European platform Big Pulse Dance Alliance and was also featured in the international project Shape It!, which enables artists to work with children to transform their work for young audiences. Treatment of Remembering won the International Jury Prize and the Audience Award at the Czech Dance Platform 2021. Both performances have been shown at Flora in previous years.
