Extraordinary interviews with members of an original ensemble – about ordinary things, their hobbies, love and “different acting”.
Discussion follows – a talk with Jitka Vrbková “about theatre which destroys the borders of the handicap.”

    Ticket price: 50 Kč
The interviewees go through a cleansing bath of the public production. They sing, they dance, they testify about their existence, about their love for theatre. The etude in which an actress introduces the audience to the contents of her handbag, or the repeated entrance of her colleague, whose mind just went blank, or the fiery dance of a speechless mime, are all excellent. The etude of cosmetic alterations by an actress on a selected spectator is characterised by its subtlety. (…) With visible effort, the clever host Teller manages to direct the dishevelled actors and actresses to the final singing and dancing. The show is a success…

„We are a theatre where young actors and authors with Down syndrome and professional actors without disabilities meet. We see this connection (dialogue) as an opportunity to create professional productions with a distinctive theatrical poetics. We believe that people with Down syndrome have a unique understanding of the world as well as specific performative abilities.“

Divadlo Aldente Brno was founded in 2008 in Brno at the instigation of actress and director Jitka Vrbková, originally as an independent group of students of art schools, since 2014 it has focused on working with actors with disabilities. The original productions Maminko, jsi důležitá jako šraňky v tunelu! / (Mommy, you are as important as boom barriers in a tunnel!), Who I Am? or Who is afraid of DS? (at DF 2019) are based on the original movement and acting style of people with Down syndrome. Genre-wise, the company has moved towards interpretations of classics such as Antigone or The Golden Spinning Wheel and Brides based on the ballads of K. J. Erben.

Jitka Vrbková (1984) works at Aldente as an artistic director, director, screenwriter, and occasionally as a dance and acting teacher or actress. An inspiring personality of the so-called social theatre, she studied directing at the DAMU academy in Prague and dramaturgy at the JAMU academy in Brno, where she later taught at the theatre and education studio and received her PhD in Dramatic Arts. She is a researcher at the Theatre Faculty of JAMU academy in Brno, has four children, one of them with Down syndrome.

Stand-up comedian, host and healthcare clown Filip Teller (1991) studied in the studio of original acting, movement theatre and clowning at JAMU academy. In his original one-man shows with elements of cabaret – whether it is his debut Inspirováno láskou / Inspired by Love or the new Reproduction – he emphasizes situational humour and improvisation. From 2015–2020 he hosted his own talk show Tell or Show. With Pavel Seriš, he created the feature-length stand-up Čecháčci a Čoboláci (2017). He performs in the monodrama Gypsy Boxer (2016) and the drama Komedie o komikovi / Comedy About a Comedian (2022) with Miroslav Táborský.
